Inside the course

Understand the technique.
Refine your practice.

Two days of theory and guided self-practice in paper-form extensions and salon shapes.

  1. Health & safety theory

Review contraindications, safe e-file operation, PPE and dust control, and recognise when a service should be adapted or referred.

  2. Workspace setup: ergonomics, comfort & safety

Consider posture, seating, equipment placement and hand positioning to support comfortable, controlled working practices.

  3. Consultation & hygiene

Review client consultation, tool cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation, and the handling of reusable and disposable tools.

  4. E-file operation & e-file bits

Select suitable bit materials, shapes and grits. Refine working speeds, pressure, control and equipment maintenance.

  5. Russian manicure preparation

Explore cuticle preparation using a combined method of manual tools and e-file bits for delicate, clean results, followed by skin polishing.

  6. Gel systems & brush selection

Compare self-levelling and non-self-levelling gels, hardness, flexibility and suitable brushes for controlled application.

  7. Form fitting & growth direction

Cut and fit paper forms to the natural nail. Assess growth direction and visualise the intended extension before application.

  8. Gel application & architecture

Build a balanced apex and extension structure with controlled gel application and precise product distribution, aiming for minimal refining after curing.

  9. Salon shapes & refinement

Practise almond, oval, square and squoval shapes. Refine sidewalls, the apex and free edge with appropriate filing patterns.

  10. Correction & troubleshooting

Evaluate structural or shaping errors and practise refinement methods to improve symmetry and balance.

  11. Gel polish & finishing

Refine colour application around the cuticle line and top-coat control for an even finish and a clear line of light.

  12. Photography basics

Explore phone settings, lighting and hand positioning to photograph the detail of your finished work clearly.
