Inside the course
Correct with purpose.
Reinforce with precision.
Start with cuticle and nail assessment, then move straight into removal and the full practical service. Product knowledge and technique are explained as you work, through preparation, polygel correction, a soft gel overlay, sidewall and corner repairs, shaping, top coat and photography.
Cuticle & nail assessment
Analyse the cuticle condition and nail type first. Tailor cuticle preparation, e-file bit selection and product choice to the nails you are working with.
Safe & efficient product removal
Remove existing product with the e-file, selecting suitable e-file bits, RPMs and pressure. Refine hand positioning and control for safe, efficient work.
Cuticle pocket preparation
Use e-file bits and manual tools in a combined method to open the cuticle pocket and prepare the surrounding skin safely, efficiently and precisely. Tailor your approach to the cuticle and skin type you are working with.
Cuticle trimming with scissors
Practise controlled scissor work to trim the prepared cuticle cleanly and precisely.
Skin polishing
Refine and polish the skin for a clean, even finish, adapting the technique to the skin you are working with.
Nail preparation: tools & liquids
Prepare and etch the nail plate mechanically, then select and apply dehydrators, pH balancers, primers and the appropriate base coat for the nail type and product system.
Polygel & BIAB product knowledge
Compare polygel and BIAB products, including viscosity, handling and behaviour on different nail types. Select products to suit the correction and overlay you are creating.
Correction & reinforcement
Use polygel to correct and reinforce demanding nail plates, then apply a soft gel overlay as a combined method. Refine placement and structure for a thin, balanced result without creating extensions.
Repairing overfiled sidewalls & broken corners
Rebuild overfiled sidewalls and broken corners with controlled polygel placement, then integrate the repair into the soft gel overlay. Restore balanced contours and refine the shape for a thin, reinforced result.
Material transitions & structural balance
Refine the transitions between materials, apex placement and sidewalls for a thin, balanced result.
Precision shape filing
File square, soft square or oval shapes after application. Refine symmetry, sidewalls and filing angles for balanced, proportionate results.
Top coat & line of light alignment
Apply top coat to create a smooth, even surface with a clean, aligned line of light.
Feedback & improvements
I’ll review your work from the day, highlight where you can improve and guide you on how to tackle the issues you experienced. You’ll leave with clear, practical steps to focus on as you continue practising after the course.
Photography & content creation
Prepare the hands and nails for photographs and videos. Explore device choice, phone settings, lighting, bulb selection and studio setup, adjusting exposure for different skin tones to showcase your work clearly.
