Inside the course

Understand the structure.
Refine your control.

Start with cuticle and nail assessment, then move straight into removal and the full practical service. Product selection and technique are explained as you work, through preparation, hard gel application, correction, refinement, top coat and photography.

  1. Cuticle & nail assessment

Analyse the cuticle condition and nail type first. Tailor cuticle preparation, e-file bit selection and product choice to the nails you are working with.

  2. Safe & efficient product removal

Remove existing product with the e-file, selecting suitable e-file bits, RPMs and pressure. Refine hand positioning and control for safe, efficient work.

  3. Cuticle pocket preparation

Use e-file bits and manual tools in a combined method to open the cuticle pocket and prepare the surrounding skin safely, efficiently and precisely. Tailor your approach to the cuticle and skin type you are working with.

  4. Cuticle trimming with scissors

Practise controlled scissor work to trim the prepared cuticle cleanly and precisely.

  5. Skin polishing

Refine and polish the skin for a clean, even finish, adapting the technique to the skin you are working with.

  6. Nail preparation: tools & liquids

Prepare and etch the nail plate mechanically, then select and apply dehydrators, pH balancers, primers and the appropriate base coat for the nail type and product system.

  7. Hard gel selection & suitability

Assess the natural nail and select a suitable hard gel type and viscosity for the structure you are creating. Compare product behaviour as you work and tailor your choice to the nail type.

  8. Hard gel architecture & application

Refine controlled hard gel placement, apex, stress areas and sidewalls to build a thin, balanced structure. Use brush control, gravity and product distribution for strength without unnecessary bulk and minimal refining after curing.

  9. Repairing missing sidewalls & broken corners

Rebuild missing sidewalls and broken corners to restore a balanced nail shape. Learn which gel type and viscosity to choose for the repair, taking the size of the missing area and the support needed into account. Refine placement and reinforcement for a thin, durable result.

  10. Structural correction & precision filing

Use product placement to visually correct uneven or downward-growing nail plates, then refine the surface and shape. Work on symmetry, sidewalls, lower arches and filing angles to preserve free-edge strength and help prevent chipping.

  11. Feedback & improvements

I’ll review your work from the day, highlight where you can improve and guide you on how to tackle the issues you experienced. You’ll leave with clear, practical steps to focus on as you continue practising after the course.

  12. Top coat & line of light alignment

Apply top coat to create a smooth, even surface with a clean, aligned line of light.

  13. Photography & content creation

Prepare the hands and nails for photographs and videos. Explore device choice, phone settings, lighting, bulb selection and studio setup, adjusting exposure for different skin tones to showcase your work clearly.
